Curtis George Payne passed peacefully after a long hard fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. Curtis was born in Bay City, TX to Annabelle Crowder and Charles Richardson on June 7, 1943. He loved playing football, baseball, and participating in the high jump for the track team during his years at Alvin High School. He was proud to be a skydiver and high jumper while serving in the United States Army. Curtis loved bowling and played in many tournaments while stationed in Germany and later on local teams in Texas. He married the love of his life Darlene Goodridge and together they raised five children. Curtis owned and operated Yellowjacket Construction in Alvin, TX for many years. Curtis passes on a legacy of hard work and perseverance. He had a passion for driving race cars and was proud to watch his son, Roy excel on the NASCAR racing circuit.

Curtis loved family gatherings, watching his children participate in sports and an occasional golf game. He passed on his love for the outdoors to his children by taking them hunting and fishing whenever he had the opportunity. His grandchildren were one of his greatest joys.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father Charles Richardson, sister Sarah Grace Payne, and parents Annabelle Crowder and Roy Payne, and grandson Caleb Ray Burts. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years Darlene Payne, sons: Roy Payne and wife Jennifer of Fulshear, TX, Ryan Payne and wife Amy of Montgomery, TX daughters: Linda Burts of Fairfield, TX, Denise Powell and husband Dewayne of Liberty, TX, Julie Nordt and husband Ryan of Fulshear, TX. Grandchildren: Kayla Dishongh, Cole Dishongh, Kara Stone, Cy Payne, Wyatt Burts, Rachel and Halle Nordt, Addison and Dylan Payne. Great grandchildren: Camden, Quade, Madelyn, Maisyn, Sunny, and Cameron.

Curtis will be greatly missed by countless friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at Scott's Funeral home in Alvin, TX on Tuesday, August 6th. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and service will follow at 11AM.
