Corey Wayne Byfield, age 47, of Alvin, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at his home. Corey was born October 13, 1978, in Houston and had been a resident of Alvin for the last 10 years.

Corey loved being a dad more than anything and was incredibly proud of his sons, Lance and Logan. He was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh with a perfectly timed comment. While he was never one to seek attention or enjoy large crowds, the people closest to him knew how deeply he cared for his family and the people he loved.

Corey had a lifelong love for animals and hobbies that could sometimes surprise people. He shared a special bond with his dog, Cooper, and over the years went through everything from snakes to saltwater fish to even raising turkeys, always finding interest in something a little unexpected. While many of those hobbies could be complicated and overwhelming to most people, Corey had a way of diving right in, learning everything he could, and somehow making it all look easy.

He was happiest outdoors cooking for family and friends, whether standing over a BBQ pit or making crawfish. Every Fourth of July, he always became the favorite uncle by taking his nieces and nephews to the fireworks stand and letting them spend far more than they probably should have.

Corey is survived by his sons, Lance and Logan Byfield; mother, Carolyn Byfield; father, George Byfield; sister, Hope Wisby, husband John and children; fraternal twin brother, Casey Byfield; stepdaughters, Emily and Lexi Bailey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss his humor, and one-of-a-kind personality.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home.
