Charles T. Crawford, age 96 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.  Charles was born on December 19, 1928, in Brownsville, Mississippi. After graduation from Chalybeate High School, he and his brother George joined the relatively newly formed U.S. Air Force. They deployed together to Guam and Okinawa. Once honorably discharged they traveled together working on railroad construction and landed in Houston. He met and married Juanita and they had two children. In Houston, he worked for Olin Mathison Agri Chemical as a shift foreman.  Charles was known for being an extremely hard worker and family man, so when an Agri Chemical plant was opening near his parents, he was asked to help open the plant. The family moved to Iuka in North East Mississippi where he and Juanita worked and lived for the next 50 years. Although he worked a full-time job, farming was in his blood. Their small commercial farm added to the economy where they raised cotton, corn, pimento peppers, soybeans, cattle, and hogs. His year-round vegetable gardens were a source of fresh vegetables which he freely shared with everyone he knew both in Mississippi and after they moved to Alvin in 2014. He said it was his mission. His advice for a good long life would be to love your family, play with your children, exercise as long as possible, and dig in the dirt. Charles was Christian by faith and saw the beauty in nature as proof of our Creator.  Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Juanita, son, Larry and Daughter-in-Law, Linda Crawford, parents, William P. and Lois Labarreare Crawford, brothers, William (Bill) Crawford, George Crawford, and Pat Crawford, sisters, Hazel Cox, Mary Ida Hulsey, Vasti Beene and Ruth Crawford.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Teresa Bitner and husband Daryl; sister in law, Glenda Crawford, grandchildren, Jeremy Bitner and wife Jenna, Ali Kober and husband Jordan, Adam Bitner, Joseph Bitner and wife Lauree, Abigail Tullos and husband Ridge, Daniel Crawford and wife Jaci , Nathan Crawford, Sarah Crawford, Kim Richerson and husband Jim, and Shelley Swindell; great grandchildren, Audrey and Johnathan Bitner, Everhett and Arlie Tullos, Raylen, Emery, Madelen Bitner, Jaxon Kober, Kaylee Crawford, Grayson and Nolan Crawford, Lauren Batson and Noah Richerson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to especially thank the morning McDonald's "coffee klatch" for being good friends to our Dad and Paw.  McDonald's, Planet Fitness, and What a Burger staffs for making him feel so special. IPH hospice nurse Nancy, care aide Candace and social worker Felicia for their professionalism, compassion and care.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM with memorial services beginning at 4:00 PM at the Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas.

Memorials can be made to the St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis Tennessee.
