On December 15, 2024, our dear beloved father Cerildo Alonzo passed peacefully at the age of 84 after a 5-year degenerative disease of the nervous system (dementia). He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Cerildo "Chicho" Alonzo was born July 09, 1940, in Beeville, Texas, He attended A. C. Jones High School where he was an amazing baseball and football player. He was known as "El Pelotero". There he met the love of his life of more than 65 years, Olga Guerrero Alonzo. He was a resident of Alvin for 41 years. Cerildo was an avid history buff. He enjoyed reading, fishing, golfing, hunting, playing cards and dominos. He was also known for his extraordinary physical strength, and everyone knew him by his "drop to your knee" firm grip handshake. He had a big sense of humor and he had a "never met a stranger" character. You could not sit by him when he was laughing because he would be slapping your shoulder in the process. To his grandchildren, he was known for saying "Who wants Dairy Queen?!!" When he went golfing with my husband Simon, he refused to hit from the Senior Tees and he wanted to hit where the young hit. So, it can be a fair game. His buddy's were so amazed how far he outdrove them. There are numerous stories of him going fishing and hunting, I can go on and on.

Cerildo started his career in body work as a collision specialist in the 1960's more than 15 years. His employers were Jack Roach Ford, Russell Smith Ford, Delahoussaye and Franco's Body Shop. He also had his own Body Shop business on Anderson Rd. and Almeda Rd. He later transitioned his career as a sub-contractor in the mid 1970's with Sylvan Pools, Anthony Pools and Bay Area Pools. He later joined his brother, Refugio Alonzo at Alonzo's Concrete in Pasadena, TX, as a sub-contractor, where he retired in 2002. While retired, he enjoyed playing golf or finding the nearest honey hole "fishing hole"

Cerildo is preceded in death by his wife, Olga, his son, Lincoln Alonzo; parents Jose and Mercedes Alonzo; sisters Dominga Sosa and Emma Alonzo; brothers Cayatano, Joe Alonzo, Genaro Alonzo and Refugio Alonzo, grand-daughters, Yvonne Rivera, Ariel Haddix, Juliana Cruz, grandsons, Gabriel Melchor, Patrick Haddix, Jr., Sebastian Cruz and Charlie Alonzo.

Cerildo is survived by his 5 daughters Martha Jo Melchor (husband Daniel), Patricia Scott (husband Robert), Yolanda Alonzo Rivera, Dolores Martinez (husband Ruben), Angelina Hernandez (husband Simon); 2 sons Orlando Alonzo (wife Rose) and Abraham Alonzo (wife Sandra). As well as 25 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm for immediate family and 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00 pm –8:00 pm at Master's Plan World Outreach Church (11400 S. Sam Houston Pkwy W., Houston, TX 77031) where he served as a greeter and attended for 28 years and was lifetime friends of former Pastors Albert and Della Salazar. The final viewing and Bypass will be Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. The burial will be at Confederate Cemetery following the final viewing. A reception to follow
