Cecil Eleby Johnson, age 81, of Pearland, Texas peacefully entered into the presence of our savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas with his family by his side. Cecil was born November 24, 1941 in Bunkie, Louisiana. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1961 and was a longtime resident of Pearland. Cecil retired from the Houston Police Department with 33 years of service and owned Johnson Tractor Service following retirement. He was a member and deacon of Southview Baptist Church in Rosharon, Texas. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia "Pat" Johnson; parents, Eleby and Decima Johnson.

Cecil is survived by his second wife of 10 years, Gloria Johnson; daughters, Paula Velasquez and husband Jorge, Gina Greenslate and husband John; sister, Shirley Boone; brother, Richard Johnson and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Emerald Velasquez, Phoenix Velasquez and Sofia Velasquez; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Southview Baptist Church (23003 South Hwy. 288 Rosharon, TX 77583) with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Cecil's honor to Southview Baptist Church.
