Carroll Dietrich Maples, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend was born on February 17, 1942, in Sugarland, Texas to Robert Lawrence Dietrich and Onie Dell Dietrich. She passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on October 21, 2024, in Webster, Texas.

She moved in across the street from the love of her life, Eddie Wayne Maples, when she was just 14 and they began a lifelong journey together, marrying on June 9, 1961. Together, Ed and Carroll created a warm and loving home, raising two wonderful children, daughter Renee and son Gene. In 1980, they opened their hearts and home to their daughter Kim, who brought even more joy to their family.

Carroll was a dedicated supporter of her husband who joined the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department in 1980. She quickly became involved with the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, serving faithfully for many years and making lasting friendships along the way.

Carroll is preceded in death by her siblings, Roberta Jean Dietrich, Albert Lawrence Dietrich, and Norma Dell MacAllister, as well as her parents, Onie Dell Dietrich and Robert Lawrence Dietrich, and her husband Eddie Maples.

She is survived by her children Renee Evans and boyfriend Chuck, Gene Maples and wife Pam, and Kim Becker and husband David, her grandchildren Charmayne Evans, Linda Evans, Garrett Becker and wife Sara, Colton Becker, Madison Becker, Dawson Maples, and Kylie Maples and great-grandchildren Sadie Becker, Hayes Becker, and Brooks Becker.

Because Carroll was everyone's Meme, she will be missed by countless others including chosen family members: grandchildren Ashton Merritt and husband Chad, Kendall Dobkins, and Caitlyn Hamontree and husband Gabe, and great-grandchildren Eric Merritt, Colin Dobkins, Landon Dobkins, and Lily Dobkins, as well as son in law Allen Evans and wife Angela.

Carroll was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with everyone she met.

A celebration of her life will be held at Scott's Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas on Tuesday October 29th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
