Carolyn Janet Greathouse went home to Jesus on July 31, 2023, at 86.

Carolyn was born on April 23, 1937, in Lufkin, Texas to Cecil Henry Hargis and Lessie B. Knox. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1956 after serving as a majorette and creating lifelong friendships. Soon after graduation, she married the love of her life, Clyde Raymond "Sonny" Greathouse.

Carolyn was a self-starter and she had a talent for developing her interests into successful businesses and as such became an accomplished businesswoman.

She bought and sold real estate fearlessly and ultimately managed a portfolio of properties as a primary career. She turned a lifelong desire to travel into a business by becoming a licensed travel agent and invited friends and family to explore the world with her. During her travels she explored several exotic locals in Canada, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands. Additionally, she turned her love for natural healing, massage therapy, acupressure and holistic medicine into a career and built a thriving Saloon from the ground up that is going strong today.

Her sense of adventure, love of literature and grand vision served her well throughout her entire life and, at the age of 73, she became a published author. Her book, Rotten Apples, was an accomplishment that she - and her entire family - was incredibly proud of.

Carolyn loved God and her family and friends most of all. Coming in at a close third was her love of her country. She was an incredible United States patriot and loyal Republican. She was grateful for the opportunity to live in our great country and felt a responsibility to defend the rights of its people.

She was a treasured daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and will be greatly missed.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; Cecil Henry Hargis and Lessie B. Knox and her loving husband, Clyde Raymond "Sonny" Greathouse. She is survived by her three sons and their families; Michael Wayne (Debbie) Greathouse, Steven Craig (Faith) Greathouse, and David Scott (Michelle) Greathouse; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Claudine Hill and Martha Baker.

An Alvin memorial for Carolyn will be held at Scott Funeral Home on August 31, 2023, at 1:00PM. The presence and kindness of friends and family are all that is necessary for those attending.
