Rev. Carlos E. Garcia went to be with the Lord on March 7th, 2022, in Pearland, Texas, at the age of 94. Carlos was born in Saint Augustine, Cuba on a sugarcane plantation and production plant on which his father worked as a surveyor. The Garcia family eventually grew to 8 children 6 boys and 2 girls of which Carlos was the fifth oldest.

Carlos' Father and Mother were raised Catholic and never heard nor understood the Gospel of the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ until his mother's Aunt who lived some distance away from there was introduced to it by some people from the local Baptist Church.  So when his mother went to visit her Aunt she shared with her the good news of salvation as it is presented in the New Testament which she very soon accepted with great joy recognizing it to be the truth.  When his mother came back home she shared the same Gospel message with her husband and family and other friends and they gladly believe too and were saved.

The family had no church on the sugar cane plantation the closest Baptist Church was in the town some distance away from there so the Garcia family held regular prayer and Bible sharing times together in their house with the family and who ever else wanted to attend. It was during these times that Carlos, though he was a very young child, when he was hearing about Jesus and the Gospel message he remembers very clearly thinking "I like that, that's for me, I want that!"

He met his future wife at the age of only 4 years old when Ann's family was invited to stay with the Garcia family for a few weeks. In their teenage years Carlos and Ann fell in love with each other but Ann eventually moved back to the United States. Ann's mother Bessy Negrin invited Carlos to come to the United States to live and study in College. It was hard for Carlos' father to let him go but his father wanted what was best for his son knowing there was a better future for him in the USA.  He came to the United States in 1946 and although World War 2 was officially over he was still required to register for the US military draft.

Both he and Ann enrolled to study at Wingate University in North Carolina. During their attendance at Wingate both of them agreed to a read a portion of the New Testament every night.  It was out of this experience that eventually it grew in Carlos' heart a desire to fully consecrate himself to the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While in Wingate Carlos studied for the ministry through

correspondence courses. He was ordained into the ministry by the laying on of hands by the elders in a Baptist Church in Key West, Florida in which they all experience the distinct presence of God and Carlos felt the Holy Ghost come upon him.

He married the love of his life Anne Negrin in 1949 in Miami, Florida.  Carlos first pastorate was in New Mexico where he and Ann's only son was born and they named him Charles Samuel Garcia.  In 1955 Carlos and Ann sold all of their earthly possessions and with those funds and support from other Christian friends Carlos and his brother Elso Garcia, who is also a pastor, went to Cuba to preach the Gospel for an entire year.  They preached from one end of the country to the other. Hundreds of people came to know the Lord because of this tremendous endeavor.

Later Carlos became pastor of the First Mexican Baptist church of Abilene, Texas where they spent 7 years serving and they made many wonderful friends there. They completed their work there and then move to the Chicago suburbs to start a new work.  Carlos retired as a Baptist minister and went on to teach High School Spanish in the Chicago suburbs for many years. Those left to remember Carlos are his wife of 72 years, Annie Negrin Garcia, son, Sam Garcia, of Pearland, TX. Two brothers: Rev. Elso Garcia and his wife Rachel from Big Spring, Texas and Luis Garcia and his wife Dessie from Dallas, Texas.  Carlos leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Carlos will be buried on March 11, 2022 in a private ceremony, at Oak Park Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
