Burl Ball, Jr., age 97 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Burl was born on May 19, 1928, in Texarkana, Texas (Bowie County) to Burl and Willie Alice Ball.

On November 20, 1950, Burl was inducted into the US Army. He was a member of the 5th Armored Division. Burl completed his basic training at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas. He was then deployed to Pusan, Korea, where he served as an assistant to a Colonel as a Corporal. Burl was honorably discharged on November 6, 1952. Burl returned to his previous job with the Cotton Belt Railroad.

Burl was a resident of Alvin for over 50 years. He worked for many years as an Accountant for Monsanto Chemical Company, Chocolate Bayou. After retiring, he worked for over 24 years as Business Manager for South Park Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas. Both Burl and Sue have been longtime members of South Park Baptist Church. Burl also was a longtime deacon and Sunday school teacher for 4th grade boys.

Burl was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Alice Ball, his sister Louise Ball, son, William Ball, and granddaughter, Nina Vick.

Burl is survived by his wife, Sue Ball of 72 years, daughters, Martha Froehlich, Betty Dolan and husband Don, grandson, Eric Dahl, as well as numerous other relatives and precious friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM at South Park Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas with internment to follow in the Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
