Bruce David Sebesta, of Angleton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, stories, hard work, laughter, and love. He was born on September 16, 1951, at Angleton Danbury Hospital to the late John Joseph Sebesta and Margaret Ann Greak. Bruce was the youngest of four children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Sebesta and Margaret Ann Greak; his brother, John Sebesta; and his brother-in-law, James Holston. He is survived by his sisters, Earline Holston and Katie Wellman and her husband, Bob Wellman, as well as their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter, Laura Preuit, and her husband, Micheal Preuit, and their children, Ayden and Payton Preuit; his son, Josh Sebesta, and his wife, Lydia Sebesta, and their children, Riley Mullins and her husband, Matthew, Kaylee Vickers, and Elijah Sebesta; and his son, Logan Sebesta.
From an early age, Bruce was no stranger to hard work. He was an athlete during his school years and was actively involved in FFA, where he developed an even deeper appreciation for agriculture and the farming way of life. He proudly participated in the county fair, showing livestock and learning the responsibility, dedication, and pride that came with caring for his animals. He also spent much of his youth helping his parents on the family farm.
Agriculture became more than a way of life for Bruce—even more than a passion, it was in his blood, especially rice farming. After his parents passed away, he continued farming alongside his brother, carrying on the work and traditions that had been a part of his family.
His love of farming became something he shared with his own children as well. His sons spent time working alongside him in the fields when they were young, learning not only about working the land but about hard work, perseverance, and the importance of family. Bruce was also there working alongside them when they learned to weld, always willing to teach, help, and spend time together.
Bruce was just as dedicated to supporting his children in the things they loved. He was at nearly every game his children played during their school years, proudly cheering them on and supporting them every step of the way. He didn’t just support his own children—he encouraged and celebrated the accomplishments of the other athletes as well. His pride in his children and his willingness to show up for them created memories that his family will treasure forever.
When his years of farming came to an end, Bruce went on to work for the county and later worked in rail transportation. No matter what work he was doing, he was known for being someone who worked hard and took pride in what he did.
Bruce never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and could talk to just about anyone. He loved meeting people, telling stories, and simply sitting down and visiting. He also loved to cook and was always happy to share what he made. If he was in town, it was not unusual for him to stop by with fresh fruits and vegetables or a homemade dessert to share with his family.
Above all else, Bruce loved his family, and his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. One of his greatest joys was being able to spend time with them and watch them grow.
The last few years brought some difficult health challenges for Bruce and for those who loved him. While his family grieves his loss deeply, they find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain, and finally healed.
Bruce will be remembered for his hardworking hands, his love of farming, his involvement in FFA, his stories and conversations, his generous heart, his cooking, his unwavering support of his children, and most of all, the love he had for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on in his children, grandchildren, siblings, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held at Scott's Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas, on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00pm. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember and celebrate Bruce's life.
