Boyd D. Faires, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Boyd was born September 21, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. A devoted husband, father and loyal friend, Boyd lived a life marked by quiet strength, kindness and unwavering love for those closest to him.

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, ValDeane Usery Faires and Herman Boyd Faires; his beloved son, Philip Faires; and his beloved cocker spaniel, Peso. Though he experienced great loss, he carried those memories with grace, finding strength in the family and friends that surrounded him.

He is survived by his loving and lovely wife, Josephine Faires, with whom he shared 45 years of companionship and unwavering support. Boyd also leaves behind his children, Nancy Faires and Jordan Faires, who remember him for his zest for life, storytelling, and dedication to family and friends. He is also survived by his sister, Barbra Burkett.

Those who knew Boyd will remember his steady presence, thoughtful nature, interesting stories, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. Whether through conversation, generosity, or support, he enriched the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Boyd was not a wildcatter, but lived a wildcatter-type life as a steel broker. His business acumen led to a successful career of closing deals in Texas, New York, Europe, South Africa and Asia. He even owned a ranch in Brownwood, Texas in the 1970's, right next to a ranch owned by Willie Nelson, who, coincidentally with Frank Sinatra, were his musical heroes.

One of his fondest activities was sunbathing and swimming, including years ago, as a member of the neighborhood pool at The Shamrock Hotel and vacationing at Las Brisas in Acapulco, and many European cities. In 1980, after Boyd and Josephine were married, they acquired a sailboat and spent many years sailing in Galveston Bay with family and friends. After retirement, he became an avid bullfight aficionado and traveled annually to various cities in Spain and France.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home from 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM, with a memorial service beginning at 10:00 AM.
