Surrounded by love and lifted by prayer, Betty Jean Speed ascended quietly into the arms of God, finding her heavenly rest on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born in Houston, Texas on August 24,1931 to Frank McKinney and Marguerite (Woodward) McKinney. Betty grew up in Alvin with her siblings Robert, Carolyn, and Virginia. She graduated from Alvin High school in 1948. She was a lifelong member of The First Methodist Church in Alvin and was a living example of Christ's love. With three children who adored her, she took great pride in taking care of her family. She often said that she was blessed to be a "stay-at-home grandma." With an open door and open heart, she loved and supported her family, friends and community. Many family members and friends have enjoyed spending time with her on Beauregard Street, where she resided for over 50 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, George Speed, sons Larry Lynch and Brian Lynch, parents Frank and Marguerite McKinney, and brother Robert McKinney. Betty is survived by her sisters Carolyn Del Bello and Virginia Lee, daughter Nancy Goodson and husband Charlie. Grandchildren Amy Goodson, Julie Nutt husband JR, Amanda Frost and husband Jeff, Danny Lynch and wife Carrie, Ryan Hill, Brittney Hill, Leslie Lynch, Megan Hardy and husband Robert, Elizabeth Brunk and husband Hunter, Along with 11 beautiful Great-Grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in Betty's honor at the First Methodist Church in Alvin at 611 W. House Street on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Visitation at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm.
