Betty Ruth LaVelle, age 89 of Alvin, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston, Texas. Betty was born February 14, 1932 in Navasota, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for the last 3 years formerly a longtime resident of North Bend, Oregon. She was known as an outstanding sculptress and artist, creating numerous beautiful sculptures and paintings over the years. Betty is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Baxter Sr.; second husband, Matthew LaVelle; parents, Alfred E. Little and Florence Schoonover Little; daughter, Ricki Furrer.

Betty is survived by her son, Thomas (Bubba) Baxter Jr. and wife Donna; grandchildren, Thomas Baxter III and wife Jennifer; step grandchildren, Carol Anne Merrithew and husband Tom, Brian Harris and wife Regina, Rae Haskins and husband James, Raquel Furrer; great grandchildren, Rilee, Colton, Tucker and Presley Baxter; step great grandchildren, Haley Merrithew, Dillion Harris, Brailee Petrek and Lily Haskins; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home.
