Betty Dorthea Erwin, age 91 of Alvin, Texas passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at her home. Betty was born May 10, 1931 in Alvin, Texas and was a lifetime resident. She was a devoted homemaker and longtime member of Heights Baptist Church in Alvin. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Bub Erwin; daughter, Mary Kathleen Erwin; parents, August and Nina Ireland; brother, John Ireland.

Betty is survived by her daughters: Debbie Labry and husband Francis, Becky Newton and husband Gene; sister Barbara Terry; 3 grandchildren: Mandi Knippers and husband Chris, Stephanie King and husband Conan, Ryan Newton and wife Ashley; 8 great- grandchildren, Connor, Cheyenne, C.J., Kenzie, Kenna, Coy, Payton and Gus; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Betty was a charter member of the mission plant, Heights Baptist Chapel of First Baptist Church Alvin, in October of 1965. Betty and Bub were surrendered to missions and the expansion of the gospel message. Betty was the first WMU president of Heights Baptist Chapel. They served as the first young couples Sunday School teachers; Betty taught while Bub created discussion; they were a team. Once they retired from traveling in their RV, Betty continued to teach Senior Women. They lived on the same property that had been in Betty's family since 1911. They loved and raised their two daughters on the same property; they were devoted grandparents and great-grandparents. But their hearts were committed to Jesus Christ and the spreading of His message.

In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made in Betty's honor to the Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 1591 County Road 144 Alvin, Texas 77511.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Heights Baptist Church (1591 County Road 144 Alvin, Texas 77511) with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 AM.
