Born in 1939 to John and Dorothy Brownlee in Houston, Texas, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was the family she loved so dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Robert Leonard Ledwig; her parents John and Dorothy Brownlee; and her brother Bill Brownlee. She is survived by her three children, Micheal Ledwig; John Ledwig and his wife Janell; and Sherry Hagood and her husband Gerry; her grandchildren Sean Ledwig, Shanyn Johnson and her husband Ryan, Ryan Hagood, and Brandon Hagood; her siblings Sue Wedde and Robert Brownlee, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Barbara had a wonderful variety of interests and found joy in both creating and spending time with the people around her. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, painting, cooking, playing piano, and a good game of cards or dominoes. She especially enjoyed playing bridge and bunco at the Alvin Senior Center, where she treasured the friendships and community she found there.

Above all, Barbara loved her family. She found the greatest joy in caring for the people she loved. No one ever went hungry when she was around. At holidays and family gatherings, she could be found making sure everyone else had a full plate, usually being the last person to sit down despite everyone insisting, "Grandma, sit down and eat!". Taking care of her family was simply a part of who she was. More than anything, Barbara loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She showed her love through the countless ways she cared for others, and those moments around the table, over a game of cards, and being together, will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Barbara's memorial service will be held at Scott Funeral Home on the 26th of September. Visitation will take place from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the memorial service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Finger foods and refreshments will be provided during the visitation hours.
