Atma Larry Turner, age 84 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Atma was born August 8, 1942 in Angelton, Texas. Atma graduated from Alvin High School in 1960 and enjoyed playing baseball through his senior year. He joined the ARMY in March 1961 and went to Fort Hood for basic training. He was later deployed to Korea in September 1962 to September 1963 and after his service he returned to Texas. Atma married the love of his life Verna Marie Free February 12th 1965 and had been married for 61 and half years. He worked as a boilermaker out of Union Local 132 in La Marque, Texas; he would go onto serve as business manager for the local. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with his friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Atma is preceded in death by his son Larry Lee Turner; parents Atma and Hattie Mae Turner; brother Dale Turner.

Atma is survived by his wife Verna Turner; daughter Elizabeth Ann Yearwood and husband Mike of Corpus Christi, Texas; son Faren Turner and wife Melissa of League City, Texas; grandchildren Courtney, Cameron, Kaylee, Clay, and Matthew; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Oak Park Cemetery following the services.
