Born on September 21, 1924, in Lyon, TX Annie Lee Wheat was the eldest of six children to Dewitt Oliver Sr. and Willie Mae Oliver. Throughout her life, she held a deep love for the Lord and made Him the center of her existence. As a dedicated member of South Wesley A.M.E. Church, she actively served on the stewardess board, finding joy in both serving the Lord and singing His praises.

Annie spent several decades residing in Houston, Texas, where she dedicated herself to raising her family. With immense love and dedication, she nurtured and cared for her 14 children, always striving to keep the family unit. Over the years, her family flourished, and she now leaves behind a remarkable legacy of countless grandchildren, as well as a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Annie had a passion for cooking and baking delicious pies, which she loved to share with her family. In addition to her culinary skills, she also enjoyed crafting dolls for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annie's family always appreciated her kind words of encouragement and support.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents Dewitt Oliver Sr. and Willie Mae Oliver; Husband's Willie Earl King Sr., Arthur Smith, Clinton Wheat; siblings Nathaniel, Gladys, George, Dewitt Jr., and Charles; her children LC King, Nathaniel King, John King Sr., and James King Sr.; stepson Willie Earl King, Jr.; granddaughter; grandson James King Jr.; her great grandson Terrace Jarod Fleming.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Mary Ella Levi, Martha Levi, Willie Mae Holmes, Elijah (Rose) King Sr., Betty Fleming, Jimmy King Sr., Thelma Bradford, David King Sr., Katherine King, and Linda (Vincent) Brown-Roberts; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at South Wesley AME Church (5520 Airport Blvd. Houston, Texas 77048) with graveside services to follow at 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038).
