Amanda Joye Smith, age 77, passed away November 2, 2024.  Amanda was a resident of Alvin, Texas for 58 years and had been a resident of The Heritage of Clear Lake since December 2022 as a dementia patient.

Amanda was born January 3, 1947 in Decatur, Arkansas.  Amanda was the first born of seven children.  Amanda was passionate about her faith, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Amanda enjoyed creating a warm and loving place for everyone who came into her home.

Amanda loved gardening, studying genealogy, singing, songwriting, and numerous other hobbies and interests and loved learning.

Amanda was a devoted teacher and mentor to many students and people in her life.

Amanda is preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith; parents William and Helen Jenkins; grandchildren Joye Nelson and Ashby Fillips.

Amanda is survived by her daughter Patricia Fillips and husband Robert; son William Smith; sisters Corinne Jenkins, Lona Green (Russ), Betty Jeffers, and Rebecca Dempsey; brothers Clay Jenkins (Susie) and Chester Jenkins (Kay); grandchildren Jonathan, Aaron, Andrew, Sarah, Amanda, Karl and Amelia; great grandchildren Lance, Rose, Viktor and Ryker; and many extended family members and friends.
