Allan Eugene Wood, 94, of Houston, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in Sugar Land, Texas. Allan was born November 21, 1929, in Alvin, Texas, where he graduated from Alvin High School in 1948.

After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps, his proudest accomplishment. He served in the Korean War as a member of the A-1-5 Marine Division. He fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in late 1950, where he was wounded in action, spending over a year in hospitals recovering from his injuries. He received a Purple Heart for his service and was forever known as one of the "Chosin Few".

He then moved to Bay City, Texas, where he married his wife Mary Ann. Following in his father's footsteps, he excelled in a career in wastewater management, especially with the City of Houston Public Works department. He was known for his strong work ethic, receiving countless awards and "not taking a sick day in 35 years".

Allan was a huge Houston football fan, having Oilers and Texans season tickets for over 25 years. He loved attending his Chosin Few meetings and annual reunions in places such as San Diego and Washington D.C. He was also a loving "Pawpaw" to all who knew him. After being widowed in 2016, Allan spent his final years as a proud resident of Landon Ridge in Sugar Land, Texas. He was a beloved member of the community, acting as the "self-appointed leader" of the poker club and a friendly face to all who lived there.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Wood, his parents, his brother Hubert Wood and wife Shirley, his brother Kenneth Wood and wife Mary Beth, and brother-in-law Howard Johnson. Allan is survived by his sister, Louise Johnson, his son Brian Wood and wife Rhonda, his granddaughter Bailey Primm and husband Pierce, as well as numerous other relatives and loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Monday, February, 26, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home. Graveside services will directly follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
