Ronald L. McClendon, age 77, of Alvin, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Emeritus Senior Living, Friendswood, Texas. Ron “Mac” was born on April 10, 1936, in Strong, Arkansas, and was a resident of Alvin for 44 years. He, his wife, and children moved to Alvin from Arkansas in 1969 when he began working for Monsanto Chemical Company, where he remained until his retirement. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alvin, participating in many of their programs. He was Past Master and member of the Alvin Masonic Lodge, the Danbury Masonic Lodge, and the Hitchcock Masonic Lodge.

Ron had a love of cars, rebuilding everything from a VW Beetle to sports cars. He also enjoyed spending time on the water, both water skiing and fishing in Port Mansfield, Texas. After his retirement he and his wife travelled with friends in their RVs all over the United States.

Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy “DJ” McClendon; daughter, Teresa “Resa” Allbright and husband, Rodney, of Alvin; sons, Alan McClendon of Clear Lake and David McClendon of Alvin; sisters, Jackie Gean and Anita McClendon of Strong, Arkansas; grandchildren, Kristen McClendon, Lauren McClendon, Ryann Allbright, Kathleen Allbright, and Staton McClendon; great grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, and Nathan Morris; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, 302 South Johnson, Alvin, Texas. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Alvin, the Masonic Lodge of Alvin, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of the Scott Family, 1421 East Hwy 6, Alvin, Texas.
